WHERE WE WILL MINISTER?

Ensley, Birmingham, Alabama

Ensley is a large city neighborhood in Jefferson County, Alabama. It was once a separate and thriving industrial city. It was formally incorporated on February 12, 1899, but later annexed into Birmingham on January 1, 1910, under the "Greater Birmingham” legislation. Ensley has been noted for having higher crime and drug addiction rates compared to other areas in Jefferson County. However, recent data indicates a significant drop in homicides and drug overdose deaths in the county overall.

The current mayor of Birmingham, Alabama is Randall L. Woodfin. He is a Christian that has prioritized the revitalization of Ensley, aiming to improve the quality of life and support local businesses, and we plan to join the fight.

This is why we at Warriors for Jesus want to do ministry and provide addiction therapy and the sport activities of jiu jitsu, judo, grappling, and self-defense, and show these families the most powerful alternative, the most powerful path, the path to eternal salvation through Jesus Christ.

After completing an internship at Northside Hospital & Tampa Bay Heart Institute, Dr. Tubbs completed his Anesthesiology residency in Southern California. Prior to medical school, Dr. Tubbs obtained his Bachelors of Science from the University of Alabama-Birmingham Surgical-Physician Assistant program. Dr. Ricky Tubbs is in his late-sixties and also practices Performance Medicine and has been studying Sports Nutrition for over 40 years as an elite competitive athlete. He is a Black Belt in both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & Judo. He is a 4x World Champion and 5x Pan American Champion in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and an international U.S. Open Judo Champion who has helped many patients and athletes across the country "Fight Disease" and sometimes cure themselves of chronic disease using his evidence based Sports Nutrition, Exercise, and Stress Management Prescriptions.

"My family, like many, are cursed with genetic predispositions of addictionobesitydiabetes, and premature death due to cardiovascular disease. I am blessed with the knowledge, and the know how, to help patients decrease their chances of developing chronic disease and in some situations, cure their chronic disease. At 66, I am still an elite international martial arts competitor, with NO chronic health problems, and on NO synthetic medications. I share this with all my patients to demonstrate and to incentivize them that this is possible. The Greek meaning of Doctor is 'Teacher', and of Physician, 'Naturalist'. I teach them and lead them by example. I define a Doctor (Teacher)/Physician (Naturalist) as one who teaches their patients on how to improve their quality of life through Performance Medicine-Sports Medicine-Functional Medicine and to relieve their suffering with both ancient and modern methods."  Dr. Ricky Tubbs.
